[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] It has been reported that Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, has passed the medical licensing examination.

On the night of the 15th, a photo of former Minister Cho holding a ukulele and smiling brightly with the caption "Thank you" was posted on his Facebook. This photo was reportedly created and uploaded by acquaintances and Facebook friends of former Minister Cho who heard the news of Cho Min's passing the medical licensing exam.

The next morning on the 16th, former Minister Cho made the photo and congratulatory comments private, citing concerns about potential misunderstandings. However, posts congratulating Cho Min on passing the medical licensing exam began to appear one after another on progressive online communities.

Those who heard the news of Cho Min's success expressed their support, saying, "Cho Min passed the medical licensing exam, that's really great," "Congratulations on passing after studying hard despite difficulties," and "She must have gone through a lot emotionally. I hope she becomes an even better doctor."

Previously, Cho, who was a fourth-year student at the Pusan National University School of Medicine, had passed the practical exam of the '2021 Medical Licensing Examination' last September and was preparing for the written exam.

However, in December of last year, the Korean Pediatric Society filed an injunction against the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute (KHPLEI), requesting the suspension of Cho Min's eligibility to take the medical licensing exam, temporarily halting the process.

At the time, Lim Hyun-tae, president of the Korean Pediatric Society, stated, "Since Cho's admission to Pusan National University was based on false admission documents, the validity of her admission should be nullified or canceled, and therefore, she does not meet the qualifications to take the medical licensing exam under the Medical Service Act," adding, "It is expected that the health risks to the public caused by unqualified medical practice by Cho will be very serious."

However, the Seoul Eastern District Court Civil Division 21 (Chief Judge Im Tae-hyuk) dismissed the injunction. The court stated, "This is a legal matter between Cho and the KHPLEI, and the medical society is not a party," and "It is difficult to recognize that the medical society's rights or legal interests are infringed by Cho's participation."

As a result of this decision, Cho was able to attend the exam the very next day, passed the written exam, and obtained her medical license.
