[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Former Presidential Chief of Staff Lim Jongseok strongly criticized Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung, saying he "smells like Jeon Gwang-hoon and Yoon Seok-yeol." In response, Kim Geunsik, professor at Gyeongnam National University and the People Power Party's Songpa-byeong district committee chairman in Seoul, sarcastically criticized, asking, "Are Moon administration officials a 'smell regime'?"
On the 15th, Professor Kim wrote on his Facebook, "Former Chief Lim criticized Chairman Choi, saying he 'smells like Yoon Seok-yeol,'" and added, "The 'smell' also appeared in the case of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon's sexual harassment of his female secretary. Former Mayor Park sent text messages to his female secretary about a smell so embarrassing that it was hard to even mention."
He continued, "The originator of the 'smell talk' is Kim Eo-jun," pointing out, "He made nonsense claims about a 'smell' behind Grandmother Lee Yong-soo's press conference, and just before the general election, he launched a preemptive strike saying 'there's a smell of manipulation' regarding the opposition party's 'Nth room personnel expulsion from politics'."
He then said, "Jeong Cheong-rae encouraged Kim Eo-jun by saying 'Don't be scared,' while making a self-deprecating joke that Kim Eo-jun 'smells,'" and added, "Really, the Moon administration seems like a 'smell regime.' Do these people just sniff around everywhere, only smelling things?"
Professor Kim criticized, "The public feels the stench of rot and fishiness emanating from the Moon administration."
Earlier, on the 14th, former Chief Lim criticized Chairman Choi, implying that he is 'doing politics.'
On that day, former Chief Lim wrote on Facebook, "The Board of Audit and Inspection reportedly began an audit on the legality of the Moon Jae-in administration's energy policy formulation process starting from the 11th," and pointed out, "In effect, the Board of Audit and Inspection intends to judge whether the government's energy transition policy is appropriate."
He added, "Currently, Chairman Choi Jae-hyung is clearly engaging in politics," and criticized, "He was guaranteed his term so that he could work with conviction without worrying about power, but he is boldly doing politics using his term as a shield."
Former Chief Lim criticized Chairman Choi, saying, "He smells like Jeon Gwang-hoon and Yoon Seok-yeol," and added, "When told to guard the house well, he tries to take over the master bedroom. When told to work with a sense of ownership, he acts like the owner."
Meanwhile, the Board of Audit and Inspection revealed in its final report on October 20 last year, titled 'Audit on the Validity of the Early Shutdown Decision of Wolseong Unit 1,' that the 'economic feasibility' basis for the government's decision to shut down Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 early was unreasonably undervalued.
In response, the ruling party at the time dismissed it, saying, "It was not a conclusion that the shutdown decision was wrong," while criticizing the Board of Audit and Inspection for attempting to force a resolution.
Shin Young-dae, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, said at a National Assembly briefing when the audit report was released, "The Board of Audit and Inspection's monitoring results only announced institutional warnings and minor disciplinary actions for some procedural shortcomings, and did not point out any problems such as errors in the shutdown decision," but added, "The Board of Audit and Inspection tried to force a resolution by holding audit committee meetings for three consecutive days just before the general election."
