[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 15th, President Moon Jae-in emphasized the importance of public trust during a briefing on the 'Novel Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19)' vaccination preparation plan from Jeong Eun-kyeong, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).

In particular, President Moon empowered Director Jeong by granting her full authority regarding issues related to the COVID-19 vaccination.

Kang Min-seok, Blue House spokesperson, stated in a Chuncheon briefing, "President Moon received a report on the COVID-19 vaccination preparation plan from Director Jeong Eun-kyeong." The briefing was attended by Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety; Kwon Deok-cheol, Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare; Koo Yoon-cheol, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination; Kim Gang-rip, Commissioner of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety; as well as representatives from the Army and the National Police Agency.

Director Jeong reported that all available government resources would be mobilized to establish a collaborative system for each vaccination phase. The vaccination process will be divided into five stages, with a collaborative system built for each stage.

President Moon said, "The most important thing is to maintain high trust," adding, "Last year's success in Korea's quarantine efforts was due to maintaining trust through the full participation and cooperation of the people." He urged that detailed information and communication regarding the COVID-19 vaccination be provided to maintain trust effectively.

In particular, President Moon instructed Director Jeong to take full command regarding the vaccination process. He asked her to proceed with confidence to ensure that all stages?including vaccine storage, transportation, vaccination, efficacy verification, and herd immunity?are carried out smoothly.
