[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] SuzenTech announced on the 15th that it exhibited a smart diagnostic device capable of self-testing for COVID-19 and other diseases at home at the world's largest electronics and IT (Information Technology) exhibition, '2021 CES (Consumer Electronics Show)'.
The 2021 CES was held through a non-face-to-face online channel due to COVID-19, and SuzenTech and its subsidiary 'Modorissi' jointly developed and showcased the home test self-diagnostic device 'Surely Smart'.
'Surely Smart' is a product that obtained domestic manufacturing approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety last December for personal endocrine hormone testing purposes, and it is a smart diagnostic device capable of home testing for various diseases including COVID-19. Recently, the US FDA granted the first approval for COVID-19 home testing to 'Ellume', an Australian company with digital functions similar to Surely Smart, which has significantly increased global interest in smart diagnostic devices.
Surely Smart is designed for self-diagnosis and allows immediate confirmation of test results through a Bluetooth-connected smartphone app. Since it is equipped with communication functions, it has the advantage of being able to transmit test results in real time to relevant institutions or hospitals, which is expected to be effective for quarantine measures.
A SuzenTech official stated, "By replacing the test strips inserted into Surely Smart, COVID-19 antigen tests and COVID-19 antibody tests can be conducted using the same device," adding, "In addition to COVID-19, various types of tests can be performed depending on the test strips, such as female hormone tests, so we expect to benefit not only from the growth of the COVID-19 home test market but also from the growth of the telemedicine market, which has rapidly expanded recently due to the pandemic."
SuzenTech is already distributing COVID-19 diagnostic products in major countries worldwide. They expect that integrating 'Surely Smart' into these product lines will support more effective quarantine activities through COVID-19 home testing by country.
