[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] The current 'social distancing' measures and the ban on private gatherings of five or more people, implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), are expected to be extended.
On the 14th, Yoon Taeho, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) quarantine task force, stated, "The core issues are related to distancing and small gatherings, and it is judged that it may be difficult to lift these measures immediately."
He explained, "Since the number of confirmed cases will gradually decrease rather than sharply dropping to the 100-200 range, it is necessary to adjust distancing measures considering this. If social distancing is eased abruptly, there is a high possibility that the number of patients will increase again, so adjustments will be made with this in mind."
