Jeju Reports 1 COVID-19 Case on 12th... Sharp Decline in Confirmed Cases Trend

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] One additional COVID-19 case was confirmed overnight in Jeju. After maintaining single-digit cases for nine consecutive days, the number sharply dropped to one on the 12th.


According to Jeju Province on the 13th, as of midnight the previous day, one additional confirmed case was identified, classified as Jeju case number 490.


This is the first time in 41 days since December 4th that only one new case was reported in a single day.


The infection route of Jeju case number 490 has not yet been confirmed. He tested positive after undergoing testing due to overlapping movement paths with a confirmed case in the province on the 11th.


So far this month, 69 new confirmed cases have occurred in Jeju up to the 12th.


By day, the numbers were 3 on the 1st, 4 on the 2nd, 10 on the 3rd, 8 on the 4th, 5 on the 5th, 9 on the 6th, 6 on the 7th, 5 on the 8th, 4 on the 9th, 2 on the 10th, 2 on the 11th, and 1 on the 12th, averaging 5.3 cases per day.


As of this day, no additional confirmed cases have been reported.


Health authorities believe the third wave of the pandemic has passed its peak and is showing a gradual decline, but they remain alert to potential risks such as asymptomatic infections and cluster transmissions.
