Gyeongnam Office of Education to Open 11 New Schools This Year


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education will open 11 schools this March, including kindergartens.


For kindergartens, three purchased-type kindergartens?Changwon Yangdeok Solbit Kindergarten, Jinyeong Kindergarten, and Geoje Sadeung Kindergarten?as well as the standalone Yangsan Mulgeum Kindergarten will open.


For elementary schools, three schools will open: Changwon Masan Goun Elementary School, Geoje Yongso Elementary School, and Yangsan Hoeya Elementary School. For middle schools, Changwon Ungcheon Middle School and Sancheong Middle School will open.


In Jinyeong New Town, Jinyeong Girls' Middle School will be closed, and Jinyeong Jangdeung Elementary and Middle School will be newly established and opened.


Additionally, to increase students' high school choice options, the alternative school Namhae Treasure Island High School will open, providing flexible and diverse educational opportunities.


Among these schools, Yangsan Mulgeum Kindergarten and Geoje Yongso Elementary School will open earlier than nearby schools and admit students in May. This decision was made after thorough consultation with parents and local residents to ensure safe completion of construction.


Mulgeum Kindergarten will initially open at Jungbu Elementary and Geumo Elementary, and Geoje Yongso Elementary will initially open at Aju Elementary and Yangjeong Elementary. During the temporary placement period, support will be provided for children's commuting convenience.


Seong Jeombong, Director of School Support, said, “We will ensure that the finishing construction of the new schools is flawless so that a normal academic schedule and a safe educational environment can be provided immediately upon opening.”
