[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch (Manager Lee Chung-yeol) is holding a 'Diary Decorating' event where products by famous illustrators are sold in one place to celebrate the New Year.
According to Lotte Outlet Suwan Branch on the 13th, the event, held from the 14th to the 17th on the first floor special exhibition hall, features over 30 famous domestic illustrators showcasing various character-themed 'Dakku' (a neologism for diary decorating) products.
With the widespread use of smartphones making it convenient to manage personal schedules and key information, the demand for diaries has naturally decreased. However, recently among people in their teens and twenties, activities reflecting their own personality by decorating their own diaries have increased, and sharing these on SNS has made 'Dakku' a new trend.
Along with the 'Dakku' craze and the impact of COVID-19 turning diary decorating into a home-based pastime, stationery sales at Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch in the second half of last year increased by 20% compared to the previous year.
Through this event, Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch will sell various items including illustrators' Dakku items, limited edition random packs, popular goods, and fashion accessories.
Notably, bear seal stickers by Gyauttung Gomdori, who has 40,000 Instagram followers, are sold for 2,500 won, cat stickers by Aeong Aeong for 2,500 won, random packs by Monan Bear for 10,000 won, and accessories by Daisy Day starting from 29,000 won.
During the event period, a free stationery fancy random pack will be given to the first 200 customers each day as a promotional event.
Lee Chung-yeol, manager of Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch, said, “Diary decorating is becoming a new hobby through SNS,” and added, “This will be a great opportunity to experience various Dakku items offline.”
