Samsung Life Insurance Introduces Non-Face-to-Face Digital Diagnosis Service Without Hospital Visits

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Samsung Life Insurance announced on the 13th that it will launch a 'Digital Diagnosis Service' that allows customers to easily complete insurance underwriting within 5 minutes through a non-face-to-face process.

Until now, when confirming medical history was required during insurance enrollment, customers had to submit health examination documents themselves or visit hospitals, causing time-consuming and physical inconveniences.

Samsung Life Insurance collaborated with fintech company ToBeCon to enable verification and submission of health examination records from the National Health Insurance Service through a joint authentication process after installing the application.

This service was first applied last September for determining preferred risk status to receive premium discounts, and from this month, it has been expanded to insurance underwriting by adding standard data items from the National Health Insurance Service such as liver function and blood sugar levels. However, diagnosis is only possible if there is a health examination record within the past two years.

A Samsung Life Insurance official said, "We have made it possible to complete the insurance underwriting process easily anytime and anywhere without the burden of visiting hospitals," adding, "We plan to continuously expand digital services that enhance customer convenience in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era."
