[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Former CEO of Gyeongnam Development Corporation Park Jae-gi, who was indicted for involvement in recruitment corruption, has been detained in court.
On the 12th, Changwon District Court sentenced former CEO Park, who was charged with obstruction of business, to one year in prison and detained him in court.
Additionally, one Gyeongnam Development Corporation official, who was also tried on the same charge, was sentenced to six months in prison with a one-year probation.
Four candidates who had previewed leaked questions in 2015 received fines or suspended sentences.
A person related to the testing agency who leaked the actual exam questions was acquitted.
Judge Cho Hyun-wook stated, "The core of the recruitment corruption at Gyeongnam Development Corporation lies with the head, former CEO Park Jae-gi," adding, "Regardless of political or social roles, it is clear that as the head of an organization, one must operate the organization objectively and fairly."
Previously, in 2013, seven former executives and related personnel involved in unfairly admitting specific candidates in the corporation's open recruitment exam were all found guilty.
