[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has temporarily eased illegal parking enforcement on certain sections of Bongcheon-ro from the 4th until a separate end date.

The area has severe parking difficulties due to many old houses and shops without secured parking spaces. Accordingly, the district has relaxed parking enforcement during times of low traffic volume to alleviate residents' inconvenience and support nearby small business owners.

The eased sections are approximately 400m from Bongcheon-ro 455 (GS25 Gwanak Hanbit Branch) to Yangnyeong-ro 12 (Gwanak Credit Union Headquarters) in Jungang-dong, and about 160m from Yangnyeong-ro 9 (Korea Certified Real Estate Agent Office) to Bongcheon-ro 401 (Dangok Transport) in Euncheon-dong.

The operating hours are from 8 PM to 6 AM the next day on weekdays and weekends (including holidays), during which no fines will be issued via CCTV for the eased enforcement sections.

However, normal enforcement will be conducted in cases that threaten citizen safety and traffic flow, such as crosswalks, bus stops, fire hydrants, intersections, and double parking.

Meanwhile, besides Bongcheon-ro, the district is easing parking enforcement during lunch, dinner, and nighttime hours in 25 other locations within the area.

In particular, easing enforcement during lunch and dinner hours in shopping districts like Inheon Market and Bongcheon Hyundai Market contributes to supporting small business owners affected by COVID-19.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “By easing parking enforcement, we hope to relieve the inconvenience of residents suffering from parking difficulties and provide some help to small business owners affected by COVID-19. We will continue to listen to the voices of residents and reflect them in district policies to carry out various projects for residents' convenience.”
