KBS Initiates Audit and Excludes PD from Duties
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] After allegations surfaced that a KBS-affiliated PD hid his married status and dated a woman preparing for employment in the media industry, the company has launched an audit on the PD in question.
On the 11th, KBS stated, "We have initiated an audit to verify the facts and any violations of company regulations, and the individual involved has been suspended from work."
A, who identified herself as an aspiring media professional, claimed on Twitter, "The PD concealed the fact that he was married and expressed affection, and we were in a romantic relationship for about a month starting from the end of 2017."
A alleged that the PD deceived her by presenting his wife as his unmarried younger sister and the child as his nephew.
A said, "Although we became lovers at the end of the year, I never met him on days when lovers typically spend time together, such as Christmas or New Year's," adding, "His suspicious behavior troubled me, so I asked an acquaintance working at KBS about him and learned that he had been married less than a year before meeting me."
A reportedly documented the matter at the KBS Gender Equality Center but did not make an official investigation request, uncertain whether proper action would be taken.
Regarding why she revealed the incident only now, she explained, "At the time, as an aspiring media professional, I was afraid that disclosing this fact might affect my employment."
KBS stated that after confirming the facts through the audit, it will proceed with additional measures.
