Former Lawmaker Na Kyung-won Cleared of Charges in 'Real Estate Underpriced Lease' Allegation

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] The prosecution has dismissed charges against former lawmaker Na Kyung-won, who was accused of breach of trust in the course of business.

According to the legal community on the 6th, the Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Byun Pil-geon) concluded on the 31st of last month that there was insufficient evidence to indict former lawmaker Na and her father, who were accused of breach of trust in the course of business.

Earlier, the People's Livelihood Economy Research Institute and the "National Movement Headquarters for Private School Reform and Eradication of Corruption" filed a complaint with the prosecution in November 2019 against former lawmaker Na and her father, chairman of the Hongshin Foundation. They claimed that the corporate building was rented at a low price to her younger sister's kindergarten, causing significant financial damage to the corporation.

In addition to this case, the prosecution also decided not to prosecute a complaint related to former lawmaker Na's daughter, the Pyeongchang Winter Special Olympics Organizing Committee, and the Special Olympics Korea (SOK) corporation on the 24th of last month.
