Experienced commotion including premature obituary before death correction
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Tanya Roberts (65), an actress who gained popularity as a 'Bond girl' in the 1980s in the movie 007, has passed away. Although there was a commotion earlier due to a false obituary report that was later corrected, she ultimately closed her eyes.
On the 5th (local time), the AP news agency reported, citing Roberts' partner Lance O'Brien, that Roberts passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles (LA).
Earlier, U.S. media outlets rushed to report Roberts' death on the 3rd. However, the hospital stated that Roberts was still alive, leading to the cancellation of the obituary and causing confusion. It is known that this misunderstanding arose because of a miscommunication about saying a final goodbye amid restrictions on hospital visitors due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Roberts, who was originally a model, appeared as a Bond girl in the 1985 film A View to a Kill, starring Roger Moore as James Bond. This film was Moore's last appearance as Bond. In addition, Roberts gained popularity by appearing in the 1970s and 1980s TV series Charlie's Angels and The Fall Guy. Afterward, she appeared in TV shows, with her last work being the 2005 film Barbershop.
Roberts suddenly collapsed while returning from a walk on the 24th of last month. Earlier, there was confusion regarding her condition, which led to the release of an obituary that was promptly corrected as false news.
The exact cause of death has not been disclosed, but it is known that it was not related to COVID-19.
She met Barry Roberts, who became a writer, in 1974, married him, and remained married until his death in 2006.
