[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] It has been revealed that fraud crimes using fake safe payment sites in secondhand transactions are rampant.
On the 21st, JTBC reported that the estimated damage amount through fake sites created by fraudsters reached 20 billion won, with 1,200 victims.
According to the report, there were cases where a person trying to buy a 350,000 won item ended up paying 15 million won.
A victim of secondhand transaction fraud, Mr. A, who was trying to purchase a tablet PC, contacted the seller through a secondhand transaction app on the 6th.
The seller suggested a safe transaction, and Mr. A proceeded with the transaction without suspicion because the safe payment site was exactly the same as the one he usually used.
Mr. A explained, "(The other party) said the world is dangerous, so let's do the transaction through safe payment and gave me a safe payment link," adding, "That safe payment link was NicePay, a site I frequently use, so I traded without much suspicion."

Mr. A deposited 350,000 won, but the seller claimed there was an error because the fee was not included and asked him to pay again.
Even when Mr. A asked for his money back, the seller made various excuses and said more money was needed.
Within an hour, Mr. A ended up sending 15 million won in this way.
Currently, victims like Mr. A are gathering cases using the account numbers and phone numbers used by the seller.
The number of victims collected so far has exceeded 1,200.
They suspect the fraud has continued over the past year based on the timing of the damage.
The estimated damage amount is also believed to reach 20 billion won.
