Pilot Installation Near Gwangjin Elementary School, Gyeongbok Elementary School, and Hanguk Kent Foreign School
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is pilot replacing the speed warning systems, which have exceeded their durability period, frequently malfunction, and are difficult to repair, with ‘Smart Driver Panels’ that have excellent visibility functions.
The ‘Smart Driver Panel’ uses LED electronic displays to enhance visual effects during day and night, and the screen changes according to speed to increase deceleration effects.
Additionally, it can detect vehicles that have not turned on their headlights or taillights, and when no vehicles are present, it can display public service advertisements encouraging slow driving.
The ‘Smart Driver Panel’ project is promoted by Hantech, selected for the ‘Ministry of SMEs and Startups Startup Package Project,’ and has been installed free of charge on ‘244 Jayang-ro, Gwangjin-gu’ as a pilot.
This location is a dense child protection zone where Gwangjin Elementary School, Gyeongbok Elementary School, and Korea Kent Foreign School are located. The previously installed speed warning system lost its function due to exceeding its durability period and could not be repaired, leading to the installation of the ‘Smart Driver Panel.’
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have pilot installed the ‘Smart Driver Panel’ to prevent traffic accidents in child protection zones,” and added, “Through this installation, we expect to induce voluntary vehicle deceleration by drivers and create a pedestrian-centered safe traffic environment within child protection zones.”
