[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 4th that it has been operating the 'Creative Convergence Talent Development Project Learning' for about 430 elementary and middle school students over seven months since May at 15 affiliated Creative Convergence Centers.
This project aims to nurture future talents in Jeonnam in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and was carried out with the support of the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation. It targeted 5th to 6th graders in elementary school and 1st to 3rd graders in middle school, with 15 centers under the Jeonnam Office of Education voluntarily applying for the project.
The programs developed independently by each center include representative examples such as the software 'Challenge! App Development Challenge,' which creates apps providing information related to the island's history, culture, and travel, and 'I Can Do It Too! Machine Learning,' which combines AI with curriculum areas.
A student who participated in the program said, "I enjoyed being able to take project classes on various topics linked to the curriculum, and I want to apply again for the Creative Convergence Talent Development Project," adding, "It was not only enjoyable to learn but also an opportunity to grow through communication and collaboration with friends from different schools during the project process."
Lee Hyun-hee, Director of the Future Talent Division, said, "Despite many difficulties in the educational field due to COVID-19, we are proud of the students who have developed interest and capabilities in creative and convergence education through the Future Challenge Project," and added, "We will continue to develop and support various creative and convergence programs to nurture Jeonnam-type future talents."
