[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Koo Ja-yeol, chairman of LS Group, continued his sharing activities to help the underprivileged.
On the 4th, LS Group announced that it held the 'Hot Heart Sharing' event, delivering kimchi and rice worth about 100 million KRW to approximately 530 households, including vulnerable groups in Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, and flood victims affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, in collaboration with Anseong City where the group’s training center is located.
Koo Ja-yeol, chairman of LS Group, said, “I am pleased to be able to hold a meaningful event with Anseong City every year,” adding, “Especially this year, as we are going through a difficult time due to the impact of COVID-19, I hope that everyone can come together with one heart and one mind to overcome this crisis well.”
This sharing activity was conducted with a minimum number of volunteers following quarantine guidelines due to the social distancing level 2, and items were delivered through non-face-to-face methods such as drive-thru.
Since 2015, Chairman Koo has actively participated in volunteer activities in Anseong City with new employees, including delivering briquettes, assembling wooden bookshelves, and sharing kimchi with love. LS Group has been holding the ‘Sharing Kimchi with Love’ event annually for the underprivileged in Anseong City since 2016.
Major affiliates of LS Group also joined the sharing activities. LS Cable & System started by donating a delivery vehicle to the Donghae Regional Self-Support Center in July to support self-support projects in Donghae City. LS Electric delivered winter supplies last month to about 200 low-income elderly living alone in Anyang area, and LS Nikko Copper provided food and daily necessities to help the underprivileged in Ulju County, Ulsan, respectively.
