Hyundai Mobis Publishes Children's Book 'Geunyang, Eunmi' to Improve Disability Awareness

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Hyundai Mobis announced on the 2nd that it has published the disability awareness improvement fairy tale book "Just, Eunmi" and will distribute 2,500 copies free of charge to regional children's centers, welfare centers for the disabled, and children's libraries nationwide.

As part of various social contribution activities, Hyundai Mobis has been producing books in the form of fairy tales that children enjoy every year since 2014. This is the seventh time Hyundai Mobis has published a book to improve disability awareness.

The newly published "Just, Eunmi" tells the happy story of the protagonist who lives her own life with a warm heart. The protagonist Eunmi is a child who, on a busy morning on her way to school, sits on the stairs in front of her house, looks up at the sky, and smiles gently. While walking, she often looks down at the ground for a long time and slightly lifts her shoe to make way when ants or pill bugs pass by. Even when led by her mother to the school gate, she does not immediately enter the classroom. She stops by the flower shop next to the school gate and loves watering the plants more than anyone else.

At first, family members and neighborhood children do not understand the protagonist's behavior, but over time, they are moved by the protagonist who lives her own life and finds happiness.

Jeong Seung-hee, the author of this book, said, "Just as I live simply as myself, I wrote this story with the hope that our society would look at children with disabilities as they are."

Since 2014, Hyundai Mobis has published disability awareness improvement fairy tale books every year around the end of the year and has distributed more than 14,000 copies free of charge nationwide to date. In addition to publishing books, Hyundai Mobis also runs the EASY MOVE program every year, which supports mobility convenience for children with disabilities. EASY MOVE is a program that selects children who have difficulty with physical activity and mobility and provides customized mobility aids and posture support devices.

Park Jin-ho, Executive Director of Hyundai Mobis Communications Office, said, "I hope that children who read this book will learn to understand and care for various friends living in the same time and space with their hearts."
