[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 2nd that it received the Cultural Contribution Award for its contribution to the development of local community culture at the '2020 Mecenat Awards' hosted by the Korea Mecenat Association.
Now in its 21st year, the Mecenat Awards have been organized and operated by the Korea Mecenat Association since 1999 to honor the mecenat achievements of companies supporting culture and the arts.
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Shinhan Card has been focusing on operating the 'Shinhan Card Digital Stage.' The Digital Stage is a newly planned untact performance program designed to support the cultural and artistic industry, which has been severely depressed due to COVID-19, and to provide differentiated customer experiences to customers practicing social distancing. Digital-only cultural content such as plays, concerts, and recitals are serialized and broadcast live on YouTube.
In addition, Shinhan Card operates a nationwide multipurpose culture platform, leading popular performance culture. 'Shinhan Card FAN Square,' located in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, offers specialized content centered on the 20s and 30s generation, fitting the youthful Hongdae area. The 'Sohyang Theater Shinhan Card Hall' in Centum City, Haeundae-gu, Busan, is a large-scale performance hall with approximately 11.3 million seats, attracting 40,000 to 50,000 spectators annually.
Moreover, Shinhan Card has been operating the 'Shinhan Card Rookie Project' since 2015, aiming to make a sincere contribution to the development of popular music by discovering and supporting talented indie musicians. It has also been collaborating with LG Arts Center to carry out the 'Art Collection,' supporting high-quality performing arts and cultural spaces for nine years since 2011.
A Shinhan Card official stated, "Based on the successful experiences of our mecenat activities so far, by integrating large-scale performance infrastructure, customer-tailored content, and digital capabilities, we will faithfully serve as a bridge between 26.8 million Shinhan Card customers and the cultural and artistic industry, contributing to systematically and locally revitalizing the cultural and artistic market, which has been depressed due to COVID-19."
