[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The test events for the Tokyo Summer Olympics, which were canceled due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), will resume.
The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee announced on the 27th the schedule for 18 newly designated test events in consultation with the respective International Federations (IFs).
The Tokyo Olympics, originally scheduled to be held in July this year, have been postponed by one year, with the opening day set for July 23 next year.
According to the newly confirmed test event schedule, the artistic swimming competition, which also serves as a qualifier for Olympic participation, will be held first from March 4 to 7 next year at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. In April, test events for water polo, diving, rugby, swimming, cycling BMX freestyle, cycling track, shooting, and skateboarding will be held in sequence, followed by volleyball, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, and athletics test events in May.
