[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] On the 27th, a post titled "President Park Geun-hye, I am sorry" was uploaded on 'SnuLife,' a portal bulletin board exclusively for current and former Seoul National University students. The author compared the Park Geun-hye administration with the Moon Jae-in administration, listing 13 reasons to apologize to former President Park.

This can be interpreted as a kind of satire, implying that although the author had criticized the Park Geun-hye government in the past, the past seems better when compared to the current Moon Jae-in government.

The author first opened the discussion by mentioning the recent controversy surrounding the disciplinary procedures against Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl. He said, "I criticized when Chae Dong-wook was dismissed for having two households, but seeing Yoon Seok-youl being ousted now for alleged surveillance, I realize that was nothing to criticize. I am sorry."

Regarding the 2016 Choi Soon-sil political scandal, he said, "I criticized the pressure to admit Choi Soon-sil’s daughter to Ewha Womans University, but seeing Cho Kuk’s children forging documents, it seems the Asian Games gold medal was at least earned through sincere effort to get into university." He added, "I criticized the creation of Mir and K-Sports foundations for extorting corporate money, but seeing Optimus and Prime, it seems extorting a few hundred billion won from corporations is much better than extorting several trillion won from ordinary citizens."

The author also claimed that the Moon Jae-in administration unjustly interfered in personnel affairs and criticized its failure to properly handle sexual crimes.

He said, "I criticized the demotion of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officials, but hearing that someone said 'If you don’t abolish nuclear power plants, I’ll die,' it seems that was still within the normal scope of personnel authority."

He also pointed out, "I criticized Yoon Chang-joong for sexually harassing an intern in the U.S. and fleeing, but seeing the cases of Ahn Hee-jung, Oh Keo-don, and Park Won, and hearing the unheard-of term 'victim complainant,' I was shocked."

He mentioned the ongoing COVID-19 situation with continuous new domestic cases. He said, "I criticized the Park Geun-hye administration for mishandling MERS, but seeing the chaos caused by COVID-19 and people dying after flu vaccinations, it seems that the response back then was a reasonable one."

Below is the full text of the post titled 'President Park Geun-hye, I am sorry' posted on Seoul National University’s SnuLife board:

I criticized when Chae Dong-wook was dismissed for having two households, but seeing Yoon Seok-youl being ousted now for alleged surveillance, I realize that was nothing to criticize. I am sorry.

I criticized the creation of Mir and K-Sports foundations for extorting corporate money, but seeing Optimus and Prime, it seems extorting a few hundred billion won from corporations is much better than extorting several trillion won from ordinary citizens. I am sorry.

I criticized the demotion of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officials, but hearing that someone said 'If you don’t abolish nuclear power plants, I’ll die,' it seems that was still within the normal scope of personnel authority. I am sorry.

I criticized the pressure to admit Choi Soon-sil’s daughter to Ewha Womans University, but seeing Cho Kuk’s children forging documents, it seems the Asian Games gold medal was at least earned through sincere effort to get into university. I am sorry.

I criticized the comfort women agreement, but seeing what Yoon Mi-hyang is doing, it seems that agreement was a relatively good method to directly deliver money to the grandmothers without anyone skimming off. I am sorry.

I criticized the ousting of Rep. Yoo Seung-min, but seeing the ousting of Geum Tae-seop and how dissenting opinions within the party are suppressed, it seems that was still common-sense politics. I am sorry.

I criticized the excuse that Woo Byung-woo’s son was assigned as a driver because he was good at cornering, but seeing Chu Mi-ae’s son, it seems that was a novel excuse and not making excuses was a truly excellent and mature response. I am sorry.

I criticized when Deputy Prime Minister Choi Kyung-hwan told people to buy houses, but seeing how the government tells citizens not to buy houses while house prices and rent keep rising, it seems telling people to buy houses back then was a farsighted policy for ordinary citizens. I am sorry.

I criticized the tablet PC incident apology press conference, saying why apologize without resigning and why not take questions from reporters, but now I think coming out and apologizing shows truly excellent character. I am sorry.

I criticized the mishandling of MERS, but seeing the chaos caused by COVID-19 and people dying after flu vaccinations, it seems that the response back then was a reasonable one. I am sorry.

I criticized the appointment of Jeong Jong-seop, a Seoul Law School professor, as minister and said he had no eye for people, but seeing what Cho Kuk did as minister, I now think appointing a truly serious person who does not use SNS among Seoul Law School professors was a good choice. I am sorry.

I criticized Yoon Chang-joong for sexually harassing an intern in the U.S. and fleeing, but seeing the cases of Ahn Hee-jung, Oh Keo-don, and Park Won, and hearing the unheard-of term 'victim complainant,' I was shocked. I am sorry.

I criticized the demotion of Yoon Seok-youl, but seeing what Chu Mi-ae and Lee Sung-yoon are doing, it seems that assigning someone to a low-profile post for defying the regime is just a common-sense personnel measure. I am sorry.

I am sorry for calling the Park Geun-hye government the worst government. At that time, I never imagined a world like this would come. I am sorry.
