[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Jeonnam National University Hospital will operate its emergency room on a limited basis for severe patients starting from the 28th.
This comes just two days after the hospital initially announced a temporary suspension until the 1st of next month.
Jeonnam National University Hospital stated on the 27th that this decision was made to minimize medical service gaps for emergency patients in the region.
The hospital has been seeking ways to resume emergency room operations as soon as possible since Building 1 of the main hall was placed under cohort isolation on the 17th.
Following close consultations with quarantine authorities in Gwangju Metropolitan City and department heads within the hospital, it was determined that the current situation allows for safe treatment while minimizing the spread of infection.
For the time being, Jeonnam National University Hospital will provide treatment only to severe patients who are referred from secondary hospitals or who require treatment at tertiary medical institutions.
Mild patients will be guided to primary and secondary hospitals where treatment is possible.
