[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group announced on the 27th that it has completed the 'Engineering School' education program, which provided software (SW) coding education to local students in cooperation with Gwangyang City over the past four years.
The Engineering School program is a collaborative project based on the business agreement between Gwangyang City and Chosun University. Professors from the Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group have been steadily conducting the program for four years since 2017, establishing it as a popular program loved by local students.
It was promoted with the goal of nurturing creative convergence talents in preparation for various future career explorations and the Fourth Industrial Revolution in connection and cooperation with universities.
This program ended on the 24th of this year.
This year's course involved four high schools: Gwangyang High School, Gwangyoung High School, Jungma High School, and Gwangyang Steel High School, from August to November, and was composed of a total of 10 sessions per school.
This year's curriculum was especially enriched by expanding the software (SW) coding field to include AI machine learning, Chatbot, and other AI (artificial intelligence) areas.
Students who participated in the education said, "It was good to be able to engage in various beneficial activities in the AI and SW fields. The professors conducted the classes in an enjoyable way, making it a valuable time to learn a lot," and evaluated it as "a creative class where we could also ask philosophical questions about the engineering field, emphasizing positive influence."
Professor Jo Young-joo, in charge, said, "The Engineering School program was introduced as an excellent case in last year's EBS documentary SW Education Story 'Beyond School into the World,'" and added, "I hope that what students learned through the Engineering School will greatly help their future careers and academic advancement."
A Gwangyang City official said, "Since the satisfaction of students participating in the Engineering School has been high every year, I would like to sincerely thank Professor Jo Young-joo and the professors of the Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group who did their best to guide the students for a long time during the difficult COVID-19 situation."
