[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation (Chairman Kim Deok-young) received the 2020 Seoul Social Contribution Award hosted by the Seoul Welfare Foundation on the 26th.

The Seoul Welfare Foundation annually invites excellent Seoul social contribution programs to spread a culture of sharing and awards the Social Contribution Award.

Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation submitted its social contribution activities carried out with ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea since 2013 and was finally selected for the 2020 Seoul Social Contribution Award.

The award ceremony was held on the 26th at 9 a.m. at the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall, broadcast live online via YouTube. Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation received the CEO Award from the Seoul Welfare Foundation, and ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea received the Seoul Mayor’s Award.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea (CEO Seo Deuk-hyun), a global company headquartered in Yangcheon-gu, has many executives and employees participating in a spare change donation fund that donates wages under 10,000 KRW. Emphasizing corporate social responsibility, all executives and employees, including the CEO, actively engage in various donations and volunteer activities.

In particular, this year, during the mask shortage caused by COVID-19, they supported families whose income sharply declined due to COVID-19 through Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation by donating 10,000 masks worth 10 million KRW and 30 million KRW in emergency living expenses.

Additionally, they plan to support 20 million KRW in donations for the Love Kimchi Sharing event held in December. From 2013 to this year, the amount supported by ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea through Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation has reached approximately 200 million KRW.

A representative of Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation stated, “ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea is a representative social contribution company that has long worked with Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation,” and added, “We will continue to cooperate so that Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation can be a partner in realizing the social value of ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea.”
