Gangbuk-gu Hosts Peace and Unification Concert... Linked to Special Broadcast of 'Jeon Gi-hyeon's Cine Music'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) will hold a Peace and Unification Concert linked with OBS (Gyeongin Broadcasting)'s flagship program "Jeon Ki-hyun's Cine Music" at the Gangbuk Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater on December 6.

The district prepared the concert to raise interest in peace on the Korean Peninsula and to form a consensus on unification, the national aspiration.

The concert will be conducted in the format of introducing music from films by the master of film music, Ennio Morricone, focusing on the theme of peace.

The performance will last about one hour starting from 2 p.m. It plans to present familiar pieces such as "Finale" from the movie Once Upon a Time in the West, "Gabriel’s Oboe" from The Mission, and "Cinema Paradiso" from Cinema Paradiso.

Host Jeon Ki-hyun, conductor Jo Jeong-hyun, concertmaster Nam Sang-bong, and KME (Korea Modern Ensemble) will appear as performers.

The district will recruit 100 audience members on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gangbuk-gu Office website from November 30 to December 2. The number of attendees may be adjusted depending on changes in social distancing levels.

Additionally, to prevent COVID-19, the district plans to operate under stricter standards than government quarantine guidelines, including visitor log registration, temperature checks, spacing seats at least two seats apart, and prohibiting food consumption.

The concert will be broadcast as a special recording of OBS's "Jeon Ki-hyun's Cine Music" on December 26 at 8:55 p.m.

Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "This performance will provide an opportunity for citizens to reconsider the importance of peace on the Korean Peninsula through beautiful music," and added, "We will actively promote various cultural and artistic events that can expand public consensus on peaceful unification in the future."
