Next year, first 4-year bachelor's degree advanced major program in Bu-Ul-Gyeong region
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Nine students at Gyeongnam Information University have become ‘military scholarship students’ who receive scholarships for two years and become professional soldiers upon graduation.
The Defense Department of Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) held the ‘2020 Army Non-Commissioned Officer Military Scholarship Student Selection Appointment Ceremony’ on November 26 at 1 p.m. on the 5th floor of the Minseok Memorial Hall for the nine final successful candidates.
At the ceremony, Song Beom-seok, Army Recruitment Public Relations Officer, visited the university and presented the military scholarship appointment letters to the successful candidates.
The students who passed the final selection as military scholarship students through exams including theory, physical fitness evaluation, and interviews will receive scholarships from the military for two years during the semester, and upon graduation, they will be commissioned as non-commissioned officers and work as national public officials.
Kim Tae-young, a first-year student selected as a military combat non-commissioned officer scholarship student, pledged, “I will take pride as a future military officer of the Republic of Korea and do my best during the remaining period to become a great professional soldier.”
Professor Lim Gye-hwan, head of the department, said, “I am proud of the students who passed despite the difficult environment for normal exam preparation due to the spread of COVID-19. I hope each of them develops their capabilities as exemplary prospective non-commissioned officers for others.”
Starting next year, the Defense Department of Gyeongnam Information University will open the first bachelor’s degree advanced major course (Military Science Department, evening class) in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam area, providing active non-commissioned officers and military personnel with the opportunity to obtain a four-year degree while serving in the military.
