[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice (CCEJ) issued a statement on the 26th regarding the conflict between Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, arguing that "President Moon Jae-in, as the head of state, should apologize to the public."

In the statement, CCEJ said, "The disastrous conflict between the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General ultimately rests with President Moon," adding, "All personnel vetting, including moral and professional verification, as well as their work activities, were conducted with the president's consent and tacit approval, so he cannot be exempt from responsibility."

Furthermore, CCEJ pointed out, "The current government dysfunction stems from President Moon avoiding his duty as the head of the administration to take responsibility and mediate," and “Throughout many processes pursued under the name of prosecutorial reform, the president has failed to demonstrate accountability to the people.”

CCEJ also stated, "We cannot help but ask what and for whom the recent shameful battles over prosecutorial reform are being fought," adding, "The fatigue of the sovereign people has reached an extreme level and is approaching a limit where further patience is difficult." They continued, "President Moon should no longer hesitate, apologize to the people for this situation, and seek the will of the people."

Meanwhile, on the 24th, Minister Chu filed disciplinary action against Prosecutor General Yoon and suspended his duties. In response, on the 25th, Yoon applied to the court to suspend the effect of the suspension, and on the 26th, he filed a lawsuit requesting the cancellation of the measure, claiming it was unlawful.
