Hampyeong-gun Invests 20.9 Billion Won in 'Clean Tap Water Supply'

[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Residents of Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, will be able to receive cleaner tap water.


Hampyeong-gun (Governor Lee Sang-ik) announced on the 26th that it will invest 20.9 billion KRW by 2024 to promote the ‘Waterworks Modernization Project’ to supply safe and clean tap water to residents.


This project was initiated to renovate and modernize the aging water supply network to provide stable tap water and respond to droughts.


By 2024, the plan is to renovate old pipes in Hampyeong-eup, Hakgyo, Eomda, and Daedong-myeon, and to establish block systems and maintenance management systems.


Before the full-scale promotion of the project, a modernization project office opening ceremony was held on the day.


About 10 people attended the opening ceremony, including Lee Sang-ik, Governor of Hampyeong-gun, Yoon Aeng-rang, Vice Chairman of Hampyeong County Council, Choi Deung-ho, Head of Yeongsan River and Seomjin River Basin Headquarters of Korea Water Resources Corporation, and other officials.


Governor Lee Sang-ik said, “I hope that the Waterworks Modernization Project will be successfully promoted so that clean tap water can be stably supplied to residents, and that thorough efforts will be made in the project promotion.”


Head Choi Deung-ho stated, “We will do our best to apply the accumulated technology and know-how from waterworks projects to this project to reduce leakage and renovate aging water supply networks to supply clear water.”


Meanwhile, Hampyeong-gun has been striving to improve water service quality, having been selected as the best institution nationwide for two consecutive years in the general waterworks project operation management evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Environment.
