[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, expressed his intention to support the budget of 112 billion KRW for the win-win regional job project, 'Gangwon-type Jobs.'
On the 26th, Deputy Prime Minister Hong visited the DPICO factory in the Hoengseong Ucheon General Industrial Complex, where the 'Gangwon-type Jobs Selection Ceremony' was held, and made this promise. Gangwon-type Jobs is a project producing electric cargo vehicles through the participation of seven small and medium-sized enterprises, with a total investment of 74.2 billion KRW and employment of 503 people. It was selected as the '2nd win-win type job' following Gwangju on October 20.
In his congratulatory speech, Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "Gangwon-type Jobs presented a groundbreaking model of win-win jobs through win-win cooperation called 'sharing operating profits' between the finished car manufacturer and six parts companies," adding, "They achieved a great accomplishment by developing the ultra-small electric cargo vehicle 'POTRO' within one year using only the technology of small and medium enterprises."
He continued, "In particular, Gangwon Province took the lead in creating an e-cluster in Hoengseong and attracted companies to the manufacturing desert through full support such as rental factories, resulting in a considerable scale of investment in the electric vehicle business and the creation of regional jobs."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong emphasized that he will foster Hoengseong's electric vehicles and future car industry, along with biohealth and system semiconductors, as the three core industries of Korea's innovative growth. To this end, he promised support including focused support for electric commercial vehicles, expansion of demand through the spread of charging infrastructure, support for future car export specialization, and reorganization of the future car-centered industrial ecosystem (parts, maintenance, workforce, etc.).
