NHN Partners with Intel for "Global Cloud Expansion"

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] NHN announced a business collaboration with Intel in cloud, data centers, and artificial intelligence (AI). The two companies will also cooperate on the global expansion of NHN Cloud.

Jin Eun-sook, NHN Chief Technology Officer (CTO), stated at the 'NHN-Intel Joint Webinar' on the 25th, "With the post-COVID era upon us, building a business-centered digital work environment has emerged as a very important agenda," adding, "Through collaboration with Intel, a global tech leader, we will strengthen NHN Cloud's next-generation business strategy."

The key areas of cooperation include ▲ DaaS (Data as a Service) on NHN Cloud ▲ next-generation data center strategies ▲ smart platform services ▲ AI technologies.

The companies plan to target the DaaS market for corporate clients and also provide services based on the 'PPP model' (a public-private partnership model where private investment and construction are guaranteed compensation for public use). They will continue supplying to government and public institutions as well.

Additionally, the 'DaaS on NHN Cloud' service centered on next-generation data centers and businesses aimed at creating innovative IT environments such as smart manufacturing and smart cities will be further developed.

NHN's next-generation data center will be built as an AI autonomous data center applying Intel's proprietary memory technology, 'Optane.' It is expected to serve as a forward base for future industries including smart cities, smart homes, smart manufacturing, and digital healthcare.

The two companies will also collaborate on the global expansion of NHN Cloud.

Kim Dong-hoon, Executive Director of NHN Cloud Business Group, said, "Intel will be the optimal technology partner for NHN Cloud's business areas such as AI, smart platforms, and next-generation data centers," adding, "We expect synergy effects not only in actively responding to the accelerated digital transformation demand but also in securing global competitiveness."
