[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A group of people in their 20s who caused intentional traffic accidents and embezzled insurance money worth hundreds of millions of won have been handed over to the police.
On the 25th, SBS '8 News' reported that the police arrested three people, including Mr. A (23), in May on charges of violating the Special Act on Insurance Fraud Prevention and handed them over to the prosecution.
According to SBS, Mr. A and his group are accused of causing intentional accidents about 60 times from June last year to February this year in Gwangju, Mokpo, Busan, and Seoul areas, and receiving approximately 610 million won in insurance money under the pretext of medical and repair expenses.

Mr. A's group targeted vehicles with many traffic violations, such as leaving the driving lane or driving against one-way streets, causing accidents and collecting insurance money under the pretext of medical and repair expenses.
They avoided investigation by practicing in advance and using others' resident registration numbers after the crime, but were caught due to suspicious reports of intentional accidents.
They reportedly stated during police investigation, "We committed the crime to earn pocket money because there was no work."
Based on additional investigations, the police booked about 50 accomplices without detention and sent them all to the prosecution.
