Eastern Europe's Largest Infrastructure Project... "Promoting Strategic Partner Participation Including Equity Investment in the Future"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Incheon International Airport Corporation has secured a consulting project worth 5.6 billion KRW for the Warsaw New Airport in Poland.
On the 25th, Incheon Airport Corporation announced that it was selected as the highest scorer in the proposal evaluation for the "Strategic Advisory Consulting Project for the Poland Warsaw New Airport Project" on the 24th, and plans to sign a contract with the Polish side within this year.
With this project win, Incheon Airport Corporation will serve as a strategic advisor for the Warsaw New Airport project over the next three years, providing know-how from contract stages to airport construction and operation, including preparing airport development and operation manuals, reviewing master plan reports, and offering training consulting for the new airport construction.
Previously, the Polish government has been promoting the new airport with a target completion year of 2027 to resolve the facility saturation issues of the existing Warsaw Airport. The Warsaw New Airport is planned to have an annual passenger capacity of 45 million and is an infrastructure project to build the largest integrated transport hub in Eastern Europe, including not only the airport but also access railways and hinterland urban development. The Polish side plans to develop the new airport into one of the world's top 10 airports with an annual passenger volume of 100 million in the future.
In particular, Incheon Airport Corporation was selected as the highest scorer in the final competition stage, beating Japan's Narita Airport. Being selected as the strategic advisor this time increases the likelihood that Incheon Airport Corporation will participate as a strategic partner not only in the construction and operation of the new airport but also in equity investment. Therefore, Incheon Airport Corporation plans to secure a favorable position in the future selection process of strategic partners for the Warsaw New Airport project.
Lim Nam-soo, Acting President of Incheon Airport Corporation, said, "Since winning the Iraq Erbil New Airport project in 2009, Incheon Airport Corporation has carried out 30 overseas airport projects in 14 countries across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America," adding, "By successfully completing this Poland New Airport consulting project, we plan to once again demonstrate Incheon Airport’s world-class airport construction and operation expertise."
