Red Alert for Cluster Infection as Two Elementary Students in Naju Test Positive for COVID-19

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] In Naju-si, Jeollanam-do, two elementary school students tested positive for COVID-19, leading to a surge in confirmed cases and putting quarantine authorities on high alert.


According to Jeollanam-do on the 25th, 10 people in Naju alone were confirmed positive for COVID-19 starting from the previous day.


Among them are elementary school students, and the problem is that Nth generation infections are progressing through restaurant owners and their contacts.


In particular, patient number 367, who was confirmed positive the day before, showed symptoms such as sore throat but continued daily activities for five days, raising concerns about additional local infections.


There have been confirmed cases at the restaurant visited by patient 367, bringing the total number of related confirmed cases to eight so far.


Additionally, two elementary school children who are the children of patient 367 were newly confirmed positive, leading to the installation of a screening clinic at Raon Elementary School from the morning of the same day, where thorough testing of students and teachers is underway.


Quarantine authorities are also focusing on identifying contacts at academies attended by the elementary school students.
