[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Volkswagen Korea announced on the 25th that it has completed pre-orders for 2,650 units of the launch edition of the 7th generation new Jetta, which was first introduced domestically on the 15th of last month, and has begun customer deliveries.

The new Jetta is Volkswagen Korea's strategic model aimed at "popularizing imported cars," offering improved product quality while pricing it more reasonably compared to previous generations. In particular, the launch edition was offered with special promotional benefits, achieving a complete sell-out of pre-order units at a price in the 23 million KRW range.

The 7th generation new Jetta is the first Jetta model built on Volkswagen's MQB platform. It features a new body structure, abundant specifications, and a spacious interior. The combination of a 1.4 TSI gasoline turbo engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission delivers a maximum output of 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 25.5 kg·m in the practical range of 1400-3500 rpm. The Jetta's engine is classified as a low-emission type 3 engine, making it environmentally friendly and eligible for additional benefits such as discounts at public parking lots.

Volkswagen has enhanced driver safety by applying various driver assistance systems as standard across the entire lineup. The "Adaptive Cruise Control," applied to all trims, provides comfort to drivers during city and long-distance driving, while the "Blind Spot Monitoring System" helps prevent accidents by warning when there is a vehicle in the blind spot during lane changes. The Forward Collision Warning System helps prevent frontal collisions in advance or reduce damage in case of an accident.

Additionally, it is impressive that many premium convenience features typically found in imported large sedan models have been installed. First, front seat ventilation, a preferred feature among domestic consumers, is standard on all trims, and the Prestige model adds heated rear seats to provide comfort to passengers as well.

Stefan Krapp, Head of Volkswagen Division at Audi Volkswagen Korea, said, "The new Jetta received explosive responses immediately after its announcement, with pre-orders for 2,650 units of the launch edition completed," adding, "We will lead the popularization of imported sedans by releasing the 2021 model Jetta with enhanced product quality in the future."
