[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Hotel will sell Christmas cakes for year-end home parties until the 25th of next month. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) this year, demand for home parties is expected to increase, so the cake lineup has been diversified.

At the premium landmark hotel Signiel Seoul's 'Pastry Salon,' the Christmas season cake 'Mont Blanc Christmas Log' is introduced. Yannick All?no, a French Michelin 3-star chef who consulted on the cake, said, "It captures the sentiment of the French enjoying a leisurely winter vacation near the Mont Blanc mountain." The Mont Blanc, filled with plenty of chestnuts, is covered with white chocolate to represent a snow-covered log. The price is 70,000 won.

Signiel Busan, which opened this year, will also present its first Christmas cakes at the 'Pastry Salon' with the 'Christmas Tree Cake (95,000 won)' and 'Pine Tree Cake (89,000 won).' These cakes can be purchased through pre-orders from December 17 to 23. Cakes can be picked up between the 23rd and 25th, with a daily limit of 20 cakes sold. Three types of mini cakes will also be sold from December 12 to 28, starting at 14,000 won.

At the bakery Delica Hans of Lotte Hotel Seoul and Lotte Hotel World, eight types of Christmas cakes, two types of cookies, and one type of cake pop will be offered from December 15 to 25. The 'Noel Cake (53,000 won),' which resembles a Christmas log, is this year's newly introduced signature cake. Cookies, including the popular 'Snowman Cake Pop (6,000 won),' which was easy to enjoy since its release last year, will also be sold.

A Lotte Hotel official stated, "Christmas cake sales in 2019 increased by more than 20% compared to the previous year, and this year, the number of customers ordering through drive-thru and takeout has increased." They added, "As year-end parties are also expected to shift to home party formats, we have prepared a rich selection of cakes and expect sales to grow further."
