[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The People Power Party is responding to Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae's suspension of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol by proposing the so-called 'Chu Mi-ae Rampage Prevention Act.'
On the 25th, the People Power Party announced that it would submit a partial amendment bill to the Criminal Act to the National Assembly's legislative affairs department in the morning, which stipulates that public officials who abuse their authority to obstruct investigations or trials shall be punished by imprisonment for up to seven years.
The bill is jointly proposed by 30 members of the People Power Party, with Representative Jo Su-jin as the main proposer.
This is the so-called 'Chu Mi-ae Rampage Prevention Act.' Representative Jo stated, "Urgent legislation is needed to prevent Minister Chu's atrocities such as personnel purges, abuse of inspection authority and investigation command rights, and the unprecedented suspension of the Prosecutor General."
