[Golf Topic] Next Year's PGA Senior Tour "25 Tournaments with a Scale of 61.3 Billion Won"

[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○..."25 tournaments with a total prize money of 55 million dollars (61.27 billion won)".

The U.S. Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Tour announced the 2021 season Champions (Senior) Tour schedule on the 24th (Korean time). It starts with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship (total prize money 1.8 million dollars) held in Hawaii, USA on January 19 next year, and ends with the Charles Schwab Cup Championship (total prize money 2.5 million dollars), the final playoff (PO) held in Arizona on November 15. The largest event is the major US Senior Open Championship (total prize money 4 million dollars).

It is interesting that 14 tournaments could not be held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Including postponed tournaments, a total of 40 events were scheduled. The 72 players who qualify for next year's PO, consisting of 3 events, will be selected based on their performance in 15 tournaments this season. The five majors are the Regions Tradition, Senior PGA Championship, Bridgestone Senior Players Championship, US Senior Open, and US Senior Open Championship.

The Champions Tour is the stage where senior players aged 50 and over compete. Korea's K.J. Choi (50, SK Telecom) made his debut at the Ally Challenge last August. Next year, P?draig Harrington (Ireland) will join. He has won 3 majors including 2 Open Championships, 6 PGA Tour wins, and 15 European Tour wins. Stuart Appleby with 9 PGA Tour wins and Robert Allenby with 4 wins (both from Australia) support the field.
