From the 25th, 'Sharing Memories, 2020 Donation Exhibition'
The National Folk Museum announced on the 24th that it will exhibit ninety items out of 1,230 materials donated last year. This will be through the "Sharing Memories, 2020 Donation Exhibition" held from the 25th of this month until October 18th of next year. The exhibition is divided into three sections. "Sharing Everyday Life" features materials related to human growth and household life, "Sharing Joy" showcases sports-related items, and "Preserving Memories" displays everyday materials containing memories and records from the modern and contemporary periods.
In "Sharing Everyday Life," visitors can see a baby jacket donated by Mr. Do Kyung-jae. It was hand-stitched by Ms. Chae Ok-soon in 1954 while preparing for the birth of her first son, and was worn by four siblings in rotation for 13 years. In "Sharing Joy," there is a Taekwondo uniform donated by Mr. Lee Jong-chul. It was worn during training at the Seoul National University Taekwondo club "Gwonwoohoe" from 1962 to 1970. "Preserving Memories" features items such as the night school operation ledger recorded by the donor Mr. Shim Won-seop's grandfather, who ran a night school teaching Hangul in Matbawi Village, Jeongam-ri, Jangam-myeon, Buyeo, Chungnam during the Japanese colonial period.
The National Folk Museum has received 53,151 items from 1,311 donors since 1964. An official stated, "We will cherish the precious connections made through donations and delicately restore and pass on the lifestyle of the times."
