Manufacturing Vision and Korean New Deal at a Glance: '2020 Smart Manufacturing Machinery Industry Exhibition' Held Online

The ‘2020 Smart Manufacturing Machinery Industry Exhibition,’ where the latest trends and technologies in smart factories, smart manufacturing machinery, automation, and the robotics industry can be seen at a glance, was held online on the 24th.

Held under the theme ‘Korean New Deal, the Beginning of Smart Factories,’ this exhibition is conducted online to revitalize the domestic manufacturing industry and expand the domestic market amid cancellations or reductions of major domestic and international exhibitions due to COVID-19.

This exhibition showcases advanced manufacturing technologies and solutions, including traditional manufacturing fields such as machine tools, parts, and tools, as well as smart factory solutions, automation, digital robot systems, and smart machine tools to enhance production efficiency.

To support metal manufacturing companies, the foundation of the manufacturing industry, the ‘Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Joint Pavilion’ and the ‘Root Industry Joint Pavilion’ by the National Root Industry Promotion Center to support small and medium enterprises in the root industry are operated.

The Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Joint Pavilion recruits participating companies centered around Mullae-dong, a hub for machine metal product processing, with 9 companies producing new and idea products and the Seoul Small Business Association (Sa) participating.

The ‘Root Industry Joint Pavilion,’ aimed at promoting the manufacturing-based root industry and supporting market trends and sales channel development for root companies, features 20 companies from various fields such as surface treatment, casting, mold, and welding.

To promote exports and revitalize the economy of participating companies, the ‘Online Export Consultation’ held over two days from the 24th to 25th invites 23 overseas buyers from countries including China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Russia, and Ukraine to facilitate tangible export results for participating companies.

The ‘Online Public Institution Purchase Consultation’ held on the 26th is hosted by the Small and Medium Venture Business Administration of Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, with participation from various institutions such as the Metropolitan Landfill Management Corporation, Korea Environment Corporation, Incheon Urban Corporation, Siheung Urban Corporation, Incheon Port Authority, Incheon International Airport Corporation, Korea District Heating Corporation, and SR Co., Ltd., supporting participating companies’ entry into the procurement market and activation of domestic sales channels.

During the event, the ‘Online SMEX Forum,’ a professional conference covering smart manufacturing industry issues such as 5G, IoT, and AI, is also held.

Key speakers include ▲Park Han-gu, Head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team at the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs ▲Kim Bo-hyun, Head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Strategy Team at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology ▲Moon Moon-cheol, Team Leader of the Smart Industrial Complex Team at the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation ▲Dr. Chu Hyun-ho of the Innovation Learning Center at the Korea Industrial Intelligence Association, who will introduce the smart & green New Deal policy, a Korean New Deal project, and present strategies on the direction of domestic manufacturing companies in the smart manufacturing era.

Additionally, sessions reflecting the latest industry trends in various fields of the smart manufacturing industry will be held by companies such as ▲SK Telecom ▲Hyundai Robotics ▲POSCO ICT ▲CJ OliveNetworks ▲Hyundai L&S ▲Hankook Tire ▲SAP Korea ▲Tira UTech ▲Prototec.

An official from the exhibition organizer stated, “With domestic and international exhibitions being canceled or reduced due to COVID-19, companies are very interested in non-face-to-face marketing opportunities. Through this exhibition, we hope to achieve manufacturing innovation in the non-face-to-face era, fundamentally strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic manufacturing industry, secure overseas market distribution networks for companies, and create tangible business opportunities such as expanding new domestic markets.”
