Gwanak-gu Recruiting 100 College Students for Winter Break Part-Time Jobs

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is recruiting participants for the "2021 Winter Vacation University Student Part-time Job" program in preparation for the upcoming winter vacation.

The "University Student Part-time Job" is a job program operated annually during university vacation periods to provide local university students with opportunities to experience administrative work, enhance their understanding of district administration, and help form a proper work ethic.

Eligibility requirements are those who are registered residents of Gwanak-gu as of the application start date (November 30, 2020) and are currently enrolled or on leave at a domestic junior college or a four-year university.

A total of 100 people will be recruited, of which 25 will be specially selected from socially vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income classes, and persons with disabilities.

A district official explained, "Last winter vacation, the recruitment number was 50, but to actively support university students facing economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the number of recruits was expanded to 100."

The selected university students will work for 20 days from January 4 to 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including break time, for 6 hours daily, supporting various administrative tasks such as civil service guidance and data organization.

Department assignments will be planned comprehensively considering the applicant’s major, desired workplace, and the nature of the department’s work, and will be placed in the district office, community service centers, health centers, etc.

University students wishing to participate can apply online by submitting an application form on the Gwanak-gu Office website (Participation·Reservation → Administrative Application) from 9 a.m. on November 30 to 6 p.m. on December 7.

Selection will be made randomly through a computerized lottery system, and those wishing to observe the lottery in person can indicate their intention when submitting the application form (limited to the first 15 applicants).

The final list of selected candidates will be posted on the district website at 6 p.m. on December 11.

Mayor Park Junhee said, "We increased the number of recruits to support university students who are having difficulty finding part-time jobs and facing economic hardships due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. We hope this will be an enjoyable experience where students can earn tuition money and gain experience in district administration by working part-time at public offices during the vacation period."
