[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A National Assembly policy forum seeking to revitalize the stagnant marine leisure industry in the "COVID-19 era" will be held.

Busan City announced that on the 23rd at 2 p.m., the "8th International Marine Leisure Week - 2020 National Assembly Policy Forum" will take place in the small conference room of the National Assembly Library.

The forum is co-hosted by National Assembly member Choi In-ho (Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, and Maritime Fisheries Committee) and the Korea Marine Leisure Network (Chairman Gu Ja-jung), with support from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Busan City.

Under the theme "Activating Smart Marine Leisure in the COVID-19 Era," the event aims to explore new directions by discussing what policies and support are necessary to revitalize marine leisure.

This event will be broadcast live without an audience via the Busan MBC YouTube channel and will be recorded for broadcast on National Assembly TV and Busan MBC in December.

The moderator of the discussion is President Park Sung-hyun of Mokpo National Maritime University. Researcher Hong Jang-won and Researcher Park Soo-jin from the Korea Maritime Institute will present on smart marine leisure activation and institutional improvement plans for the Marine Leisure Tourism Act.

Discussants include Researcher Kim Eun-jung from the Korea Legislation Research Institute, Researcher Park Kyung-ok from the Busan Development Institute, and Professor Kim Cheol-woo from Youngsan University, who will engage in a lively discussion with the presenters.

Byun Sung-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan, said, "The 'National Assembly Policy Forum,' now in its ninth year, will be an important discussion where experts from the National Assembly, government, city, and academia come together to brainstorm for the development of the marine leisure industry, which has been stagnated due to COVID-19."

National Assembly member Choi In-ho said, "Busan, as a marine leisure city, cannot just stand by and retreat in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. We will devote our efforts to making this a fruitful forum to find new alternatives and policies."
