[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, will enter self-quarantine on the 22nd due to contact with a confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the afternoon of the same day, Lee said on Facebook, "I was notified by the Jongno-gu Public Health Center to self-quarantine until noon on December 3rd."
He explained that another attendee he met at a gathering with acquaintances on the afternoon of the 19th was confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Lee himself tested negative at the National Medical Center that morning. Afterwards, the public health center conducted an epidemiological investigation in the afternoon and then notified him to self-quarantine.
He stated, "I will attend party meetings and others via video conference," and apologized, saying, "I am sorry for causing concern to the public and party members."
Earlier, during the party convention period in August, he had appeared on a radio interview and was once self-quarantined after contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
