[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] The Mokpo E-Land Senior Welfare Center (Director Kang Ju-ho), operated by the social welfare corporation E-Land Welfare Foundation (Chairman Park Sung-kyung), announced on the 21st that it received 39 boxes of donated goods from students including those of Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School (Principal Jo Woong-hyun) to help socially marginalized elderly in the region on the 18th.

Every year, after the Thanksgiving service, a donation ceremony has been held. This donation ceremony involved preparing a total of 39 boxes, one per class from Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School, for the elderly, and was conducted with the participation of the principal of Hyein Girls' Middle School and 34 representative students.

In particular, the heartfelt handwritten letters carefully written by students from each class, along with essential daily necessities, snacks, and cold-weather supplies needed by the elderly, were thoughtfully composed, allowing one to feel the sincere hearts prepared for each grandmother and grandfather. Although students usually deliver the donations themselves every year, this year only the donation ceremony was held due to the impact of COVID-19, which was regrettable.

Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School has been continuously practicing sharing since 2017, and it has been steadily conducting this event as a way to reflect on the meaning of Thanksgiving by sharing with neighbors living nearby.

Principal Jo Woong-hyun of Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School said, “I am glad that the gifts delivered were supported through the voluntary participation of students, making the support more meaningful,” and added, “We will continue to pay attention to marginalized groups and carry out various activities in the future.”

Director Kang Ju-ho, who received the donated goods, said, “I am grateful that when the elderly were having difficulties due to COVID-19, the students gathered their hearts and provided valuable donations,” and added, “We will deliver the precious feelings as intended by the donors.”

Meanwhile, the donated goods will be used to support socially marginalized elderly in the region.
