"KT Differentiates Content with VR Home Interior Design"

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT is adding lifestyle-oriented content such as home decorating services and celebrity lectures to its personal virtual reality (VR) service, ‘SuperVR’.

According to KT on the 20th, since launching the 4K wireless standalone VR service SuperVR in July last year, KT has been providing differentiated content utilizing the unique characteristics of immersive media, such as virtual interviews and VR real estate tours. In particular, recently, in line with the non-face-to-face trend caused by the spread of COVID-19, KT introduced various non-face-to-face services such as ‘VR language study abroad’ and ‘VR remote meetings.’

Starting in November, various new services will be offered. First, the VR home furnishing service ‘Archisketch’ will be launched. Archisketch is a virtual home decorating service. Users can select the floor plan of their home to virtually decorate the interior and experience the realized space in VR. By using this service, anyone can easily change wallpaper or flooring or arrange furniture and appliances simply by moving the mouse, without professional interior design knowledge. It reproduces the feeling of space that changes depending on materials or colors, allowing furniture stores or interior design companies to use it as a consulting tool. It is expected to receive high response from users interested in self-interior design.

Additionally, ‘VRLU (Vrlu),’ which provides lectures by celebrities in VR, will be newly introduced. VRLU offers immersive lectures in a three-dimensional virtual space featuring skills and know-how from masters representing various fields, such as baseball player Park Chan-ho, actor Jeon Kwang-ryeol, YouTuber Doti, and chef Lee Yeon-bok. Furthermore, KT plans to continuously update various VR content such as musical performances, kids’ content, and karaoke, establishing it as a premium culture service that the whole family can enjoy together.

Kim Hoon-bae, Executive Vice President and Head of KT’s Customer Business Division, said, “As non-face-to-face services become the new normal, new attempts are increasing to provide customers with more diverse experiences by integrating immersive media technology into various areas closely related to daily life. KT will continue to lead changes in customers’ lives using immersive media by proactively combining diverse technologies and broad genres.”
