Hit-and-run witnessed by children... "Finding the culprit in the picture" used to catch the suspect

[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] In Germany, the facial composite sketches drawn by four six-year-old children have been used to catch a hit-and-run driver, drawing public attention.

The four children remembered the appearance of the reckless driver who caused a traffic accident and fled the scene, then provided the information to the police. German police actually used this to apprehend the suspect.

According to reports from the BBC and others on the 13th (local time), at around 8:40 a.m. on the 11th (local time), a driver near Hamm, a city close to Dortmund in western Germany, drove recklessly, damaging traffic signs and then fled the scene.

Six-year-old classmates Luisa, Romi, Selina, and Luis witnessed the accident while crossing a crosswalk on their way to school. Determined to catch the culprit, they immediately informed their teacher about the accident upon arriving at school. The teacher actively encouraged the children to draw detailed sketches of the accident scene and then reported the matter to the police.

The children stated, "The driver caused the accident but continued driving as if nothing happened," and provided the police with their own drawings of the accident. They also specifically described the reckless driver as a short blonde woman.

The police are now actively pursuing the suspect by using the children's drawings posted on social media platforms such as Facebook, along with the composite sketch of the driver they received.

Local resident Michael Schult praised the children's civic awareness through the BBC, saying, "Those kids did not just watch passively but actually took action," and added, "Many adults should learn from the actions of these children."
