[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Lee Minjun, a member of the Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, pointed out during the administrative audit of the Jeollanam-do Office of Education on the 4th that “the inadequate educational conditions are a major hindrance to the development of Naju Innovation City.”
Assemblyman Lee Minjun said, “Compared to other innovation cities, Naju Innovation City is receiving negative evaluations in terms of population and regional development, contrary to the original plan,” and added, “There are various factors, but the insufficient educational environment is a big problem.”
He stated, “Despite many cases where educational demand is drawn away to the neighboring city of Gwangju, the Jeollanam-do Office of Education is responding somewhat lukewarmly to education in the innovation city.”
He continued, “If the innovation city does not become as active as expected and this situation prolongs, it could become a disadvantageous condition for Jeonnam Province as well,” and urged, “I hope that these problems will be identified early and corrected so that both Jeonnam’s development and educational advancement can succeed together.”
Meanwhile, Assemblyman Lee Minjun carefully examined important issues in Jeonnam education during the administrative audit, mentioning measures for the rapidly increasing number of multicultural family students, educational measures in response to the stagnation of agriculture and industry, and the operation of integrated elementary and middle schools.
