[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Nah] Barry West (40), the youngest son of the UK's worst serial killer couple, was found dead from a drug overdose at a hostel.

In June 1987, Barry's father Fred West and his wife Rosemary West murdered two stepdaughters and their biological daughter. The couple used brutal and sadistic methods, and they were addicted to killing, having murdered 12 women in total.

Rosemary was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for 10 counts of murder, and during the process, she completely cut ties with Fred to clear her charges. Fred, shocked by this, committed suicide in prison in 1995 while awaiting trial for murder charges.

In a 2002 interview, Barry revealed in detail the horrific incident when his parents killed their biological daughter Heather. Barry was at the Cromwell family home in Gloucester on the day of the incident and said, "Heather came home around 3 a.m. that day," and "Dad said to Heather, 'Where have you been? We were waiting for you.'"

He continued, "I heard Mom hitting Heather and peeked through a gap," giving a detailed testimony of the situation. He added, "I witnessed this situation from a few meters away. I think Heather died then."

Barry was also forced by his parents to disguise Heather's grave. He said, "At that time, I didn't even know what I was doing." Barry was only seven years old when he witnessed his parents beating their biological daughter to death and was forced to cooperate in the crime.

Barry deeply despised his parents' atrocities. He called Rosemary a "psychopath" and said, "I was glad when Dad made his extreme choice. Now, all the parents of the people Mom killed should be put in (the cell where he was imprisoned) to tear her apart," expressing his anger.

Five years after the incident, in 1995, Barry could not present evidence of the crime at his mother's trial due to fear. After the trial, he moved to another area and tried to start a new life. However, he was said to have never escaped lifelong nightmares and became addicted to drugs. Eventually, he took his own life at a hostel in Kent.

An acquaintance of the family said, "Barry never found peace. Among the West couple's children, he lived the hardest life," expressing sorrow.
