Songpa-gu Launches Customized Instrument Lesson Video Content on 'SongpaSsam YouTube Channel'

Instrument Lesson Video with Songpa-gu Symphony Orchestra Released on YouTube... Enjoy Culture and Arts and Psychological Well-being Simultaneously on Education Platform 'SongpaSsam'...

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is collaborating with the municipal symphony orchestra to produce instrument lesson video content tailored for the stay-at-home era, and will release it on the ‘Songpa Ssam YouTube Channel.’

As more people spend leisure time at home due to COVID-19, interest in cultural and artistic activities that can be enjoyed alone at home is also increasing.

Accordingly, the district has produced ‘Songpa Ssam Online Instrument Lessons, One Person One Instrument Challenge - Orchestra Edition with the Municipal Symphony Orchestra’ to enable anyone to easily learn to play instruments through videos.

The content consists of a total of 21 episodes: ▲Understanding the Orchestra (2 episodes) ▲Introduction to 6 Instrument Types and Basic Playing Techniques (18 episodes) ▲Orchestra Performance (1 episode).

In the Understanding the Orchestra section, the history, types, and composition of the orchestra are explained, along with the role and conducting techniques of the maestro conductor.

In the Introduction to 6 Instrument Types and Basic Playing Techniques section, after introducing the string instruments violin, cello, and viola, and the wind instruments flute, clarinet, and trumpet, the lessons proceed in order with basic posture, fingering methods, and completing a full piece.

The Orchestra Performance section shows the process of completing an orchestra through the collaboration of the previously introduced instruments.

The produced videos will also be available for viewing on the ‘Songpa-gu Integrated Education Portal’ in the future and will be provided free of charge for use in music classes and club activities at various schools.

Songpa-gu is leading the establishment of ‘Songpa Ssam,’ a lifelong education platform accessible to everyone. In the first half of next year, the ‘Songpa Ssam Instrument Library & Music Creation Studio’ will open, offering various music education programs. Services such as instrument rental, individual music creation rooms and practice room rentals, music-related exhibitions and experiences, and small-scale performances are being prepared.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “‘Songpa Ssam Online Instrument Lessons, One Person One Instrument Challenge’ will lower the barrier to classical music, which often feels difficult,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to develop excellent content that can cultivate the artistic literacy of residents and achieve psychological quarantine effects.”
