[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 29th that the '2020 Gangjin Cheongja Cup Baduk Tournament' will be held on the 31st at the multipurpose room on the 3rd floor of the Gangjin Senior Welfare Center.

This tournament will be divided into the Cheongja Division (advanced level), General Division (classified by grade), 9-line Baduk King (elementary division), and Omok King (preschool division), with about 100 participants including players, officials, and their families.

The tournament was originally planned to be held in the first half of this year but was postponed due to social distancing measures caused by COVID-19, and was confirmed to be held after being downgraded to level 1.

Gangjin-gun, a 'COVID-19 clean area' where no confirmed cases had occurred thanks to the efforts of both the public and private sectors, is preparing for a safe and successful tournament by strictly adhering to quarantine rules such as venue sanitation, disinfection, and temperature checks, even though social distancing has been eased to level 1.

The tournament is limited to residents of the county, and during pre-registration, applicants showing symptoms such as sore throat or muscle pain are not accepted.

Additionally, Gangjin-gun will hold the 10th Jeollanam-do Federation President's Cup Futsal Tournament from the 30th to the 1st of next month at the Comprehensive Stadium, Cheongja Stadium, and Futsal Stadium, and from the 27th of next month to December 4th, it will host the National Business and University Badminton Championship.

County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, “I am grateful that Gangjin-gun has maintained its status as a ‘COVID-19 clean area’ with the cooperation of the residents,” and added, “We will continue to focus all our efforts on promoting thorough quarantine measures and hosting various tournaments and training camps so that athletes and officials can stay in Gangjin, thereby achieving stay-type tourism effects and revitalizing the local economy.”
